AI for Construction Workers: Benetics Launches First Digital Voice Assistant for the Construction Industry

Despite their great productivity potential, AI and digitalization remain the exception on U.S. construction sites—a gap that construction tech company Benetics is determined to address head-on. With the launch of the industry’s first AI-powered voice assistant specifically designed for tradespeople, Benetics is bringing intelligent automation directly to job sites via smartphone.

The Benetics voice assistant takes on the task of documentation, allowing workers to focus fully on their trade. By capturing natural spoken language, the assistant generates detailed site reports, work logs, and measurements in seconds, sharing them instantly with the office. With support for over 30 languages, the assistant tackles some of the industry’s most pressing challenges, including skilled labor shortages, time-consuming communication, and limited transparency for private and commercial clients alike.

“Construction professionals want to focus on building, not on paperwork,” says Ferdinand Metzler, CEO of Benetics. “Our voice assistant streamlines reporting, significantly enhancing productivity across projects and enabling businesses to capture more revenue through accurate documentation.”

Built on ChatGPT Technology

Powered by OpenAI’s latest technology, the Benetics voice assistant was developed in close collaboration with 15 different trade companies to ensure that it truly meets on-site needs. The assistant feature is now available in the Benetics app for both iOS and Android, with no additional cost for current customers.

Addressing Key Industry Challenges

The U.S. construction sector has faced significant productivity challenges over the past five decades. A 2023 study by the National Bureau of Economic Research highlights that, despite overall economic productivity doubling since 1970, the construction industry’s productivity has declined by approximately 40% during the same period. The slow adoption of digital solutions is often cited as a major reason for this decline. “Digital tools need to go beyond the office to be effective; they have to make a difference on-site,” Metzler adds. “Our app is a practical solution, setting a new industry standard for efficient project management now and in the future.”

About Benetics

Founded in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2022, with an office in Detroit to serve U.S. clients, Benetics was established by Ferdinand Metzler (a former construction worker), Dr. Aaron Shon, and Johan Tibell (both previously at Google). Benetics supports over 50 construction companies across Europe and the United States, bridging the gap between job sites and office operations, driving digital transformation in construction, and enhancing the industry’s role as a cornerstone of economic, social, and environmental progress
